That's A Dub Times Two

To start this music party off we are going to begin with an old classic, and that is Jeanie With The Light Brown Hair by Stephen Foster. This is a slower, more emotional song that depicts how he feels about a girl named Jeanie. Of course we all know she has light brown hair, as stated in the song title. From listening to the song it seems as though he once had Jeanie but for some reason they are no longer together. He still has feelings for her and longs for how it used to be. He sings about all the qualities he misses such as "I long for Jeanie with the day dawn smile" and "I hear her melodies, like joys gone by". He knows that Jeanie isn’t coming back to him but that doesn’t stop him from reminiscing on their love and hoping that one day he will have her once again. In the beginning of the song he is expressing all the beautiful things about her and all the things that make him feel this way for her. More towards the end of the song he is in turn saying that these memories that he has make it nearly impossible to forget Jeanie with the light brown hair.

  1. I like the way that you started off this blog it was very catching and helped me engage with the rest of the your blog. I like your take on the song I didn't listen to it nearly enough to understand what was being said in it so it was nice to hear what the song is actually about.
